I began conducting ALS/MND research at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) as a junior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA). I worked with Dr. Julie Rowin and Dr. Nichole Mesnard nearly every Wednesday of the 2011-2012 school year. I presented my work at the American Association of Anatomists conference in Chicago in February of 2012 and IMSAloquium (an IMSA-wide research symposium) in May of 2012. During my senior year, I began a new ALS/MND research project at the University of Chicago with Dr. Ana Correa and Dr. Michael Allen. I spent nearly every Wednesday of the 2012-2013 school year in the laboratory and presented my findings at IMSAloquium in May of 2013. After graduating from IMSA in June, I spent the summer of 2013 working on new research at UIC with Dr. Rodolfo Gatto and Dr. Gerardo Morfini. I continued doing research with Dr. Gatto and Dr. Morfini during the summer of 2015. I did research with Dr. Matthew Zwier at Drake University during the 2015-2016 school year. I am currently doing ALS research in Dr. Fei Song’s lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
