The inaugural IronHorse Ball was held on March 10th at the Chicago Cultural Center. It was a wonderful event hosted by the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter!
This was the week of my midterm exams at Drake University, so I completed them early and headed home early Thursday morning. Thank you to my professors at Drake for letting me take my exams early so I could attend this event. I had to be at the Cultural Center at 3pm to assist the Chapter with set up. I helped set up the wine pull and table decorations. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped before the event!
The IronHorse Ball was held from 7pm-12am. My assignment at the beginning was to help greet people. I welcomed guests to the event and directed them to coat check and registration. The highlight of the Ball was seeing two pALS, Page Parkhill and Kris Grahnke, and Chef Fabio Viviani presented with IronHorse awards for their courage in the fight against this horrible disease. Congratulations to these amazing individuals! The night was also filled with live and silent auctions, delicious foods from Chicago restaurants, and dancing. My assignment at the end of the event was to help sell IronHorse t-shirts and hats. All proceeds went to people with ALS living in the Chicagoland area.
I had a wonderful time at the inaugural IronHorseBall. It was great to be reunited with the Illinois ALS community. I hope the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter makes this an annual event. Thank you to all who attended and donated to the fight against ALS!
