November is National Caregivers Month! To finish off the month of November, I want to thank ALS/MND caregivers all over the world.
I also want to feature an ALS/MND caregiver.
Anni (from ALS Association Florida Chapter website)
My dad is a veteran who proudly served his country before being honorably discharged after losing his hearing. He was diagnosed with ALS in April 2011. This relentless disease has stolen my dad’s ability to move, eat, speak and breathe on his own (he is on a ventilator full time and mostly bed bound). My dad fought for our country- jumping out of planes, dodging grenades and putting his life on the line for years. Now it’s time to fight for him and everyone in the war against ALS.
I’m the only caregiver for my dad and left my career in order to care for him full time. Thanks to God, my friends and the ALS Association Florida Chapter, I am not in this battle alone. They have helped me personally in the past with support, advocacy and resources. Please help me to pay it forward so they can continue to help families like us and eventually find a cure.
I walk because my dad can’t
I speak up because my dad can’t
I fight because it’s in my blood (and I’m part ninja!)
Thank you to ALS/MND caregivers. You are appreciated.
