The world lost two amazing individuals within the past month – Trickett Wendler and Jodi Oliver. I was not lucky enough to meet these women, but they still had a huge impact on my life.
There are a few things I struggle with when it comes to fighting ALS/MND. One is that no matter how hard I work, no matter how many hours I spend in the laboratory or ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter office, people like Trickett and Jodi still lose their battles with this disease. It is heartbreaking to watch so many suffer, but we cannot give up. We have to keep on fighting – for Trickett, for Jodi, for so many others. One day we will win.
Rest in peace, Trickett and Jodi. I am forever grateful for the both of you.
